Dog Tags

The Dog and Dog Kennel By-law requires every dog owner, before January 15 or within 10 days of becoming the owner of a dog, to register the dog with the Township and purchase a tag.

Benefits of Licensing

Licensing your dog(s) can provide the following benefits:

• A licence is immediately visible to anyone who finds your pet and shows that your pet belongs to someone.
• Your pet is returned home faster and/or spends less time in the shelter.
• If your pet is lost or involved in an emergency situation, the licence provides information needed to contact you.

Dog tags for the Township of Wilmot are multi-year tags. The current tags are valid from 2022 through to 2027. Dog owners must pay the annual dog tag fee but will continue to use the same tag. New dog owners will be issued a dog tag that can be used through to the end of 2027.
