Adopt a Road

One sign of a healthy community is an attractive and well maintained appearance. The Adopt-a-Road program allows various groups, service clubs, families, and volunteers the opportunity to assist the Township in keeping the environment clean and maintaining the scenic roadway systems in rural Wilmot.

How to Apply

  1. Review the Adopt-a-Road program Terms and Conditions.
  2. Complete the Adopt-a-Road application and submit it to staff at the Township Administration Complex.

Safety Tips

Consider the following safety tips when gathering a group to maintain your adopted road:

  • All volunteers must be a 12 years old or older to take part
  • There must be one adult (over the age of 19) for every 5 workers
  • Always wear your personal protection equipment
  • Carpool to the road to reduce the amount of vehicles parking on the side of the road
  • Park cars in a visible location on the side of road you are working on and ensure there are no blocked sight lines to driveways or intersecting roads
  • Do not perform clean up during bad weather as it could be hard for other drivers to see you
  • Coordinate and schedule time and dates to be on site with Township staff to ensure the proper signage is displayed on site during cleanup activities
  • Minimize the amount of time required crossing the road by working on one side at a time
  • Work during daily light hours only
