Crossing Guards
The Township strives to provide safe pedestrian links for students to encourage walking to and from school. Currently the Township has a total of 8 crossing guards with 2 acting as a spare to cover any shifts that cannot be made by the other crossing guards.
The Township is always accepting resumes for spare crossing guards. Information about crossing guard positions can be found on the Job Opportunities page.
Role of Crossing Guards
The role of a crossing guard is to direct and/or supervise the pedestrian traffic across a “highway” by providing/creating the necessary gaps in traffic to safely cross the “highway” at designated locations.
Under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) all roads and streets are referred to as a “highways”.
