Skating

The Township of Wilmot offers skating opportunities throughout the year at the Wilmot Recreation Complex and seasonally at several outdoor rinks. You can also rent the ice for private events.


Public Skating Opportunities

Join us for an afternoon skate! Skaters must be 18 years or older.


Dates and Times

September 2, 2025 to March 31, 2026

Wednesdays and Fridays, 12:00 - 12:50 pm


Cost

$1.75 per person (ages 18+)


CSA approved helmets are strongly recommended.

For safety reasons during skates, please skate with the flow of other skaters and please be aware that sticks and pucks are not permitted on the ice. Arena personnel are there to help if you have any questions.

Non-Contact Adult Shinny

Pick up recreational hockey for adults 18 years or older. 

Please refer to PickupHub to view and register for shinny times. 

$9.50 per player

Maximum of 20 players (excluding goaltenders).


Non-Contact 55+ Shinny 

Pick up recreational hockey for adults 55+. 

Please refer to PickupHub to view and register for shinny times. 

Cost is $9.50 per player.

Maximum of 20 players (excluding goaltenders)


Non-Contact Youth Shinny

Pick up recreational hockey for 8 to 17 years old.  Age groups are divided into 13 and under or 14+.

Cost is $8.26 per player.

Bring your little one ages six and under for a skate! "Tots" must be 6 years of age or younger.

  • Attendees must bring own puck.
  • Gates must be kept closed during Stick and Puck session
  • Chairs, skate aids, and strollers are not permitted during Stick and Puck

Stick and Puck is an on-ice opportunity to work individually on stickhandling and shooting skills.

Public Skating Rules

  • All skaters must obey staff at all times. This is for your own safety!
  • Helmets are strongly recommended during skating. If there are any sticks or pucks on the ice, full protective equipment must be worn by all participants,
  • All participants must wear skates - no boots or shoes permitted on the ice surface.
  • No food or beverages allowed on the ice surface.
  • No horseplay on/or around the ice surface.
  • No balls, pucks or sticks are permitted on the ice during any public skating program.
  • Children cannot be carried while you are on the ice surface.
  • Strollers are permitted on the ice surface; the individual pushing stroller must wear skates.
  • Skate with the direction of all skaters.
  • No one is allowed on the ice until the resurfacer has finished and the gate is closed.
  • Ice surface must not exceed capacity limit of 140 participants.
  • Wheelchairs, wheelchair skates and sledges are welcome. Individuals using these devices must travel in the same direction as the other skaters. Attendants/helpers are welcome to assist individuals however they must wear skates.

Sponsored Skates

The Wilmot Recreation Complex welcomes public skate sponsorship from individuals, businesses and organizations.  Skate sponsorship provides public skating free of charge to all attendees. 

Skate sponsorship not only provides your business or organization with advertising opportunity at the event and on Township social media pages, but also contributes to the wellbeing of our Township.

Skate Sharpening

Skate sharpening is available at the Pro Shop on a limited basis at a cost of $6/pair. Please call ahead for availability: 519-634-9225.


Outdoor Rinks

If you enjoy skating on an outdoor rink, volunteers in the communities of Baden, New Dundee and Mannheim provide outdoor ice rinks for the public to enjoy weather permitting.

Country Creek and Schneller

Location: Between Country Creek Drive and Schneller Drive in Baden,  accessible via the Country Creek/Schneller Trail.
